Do's and Don'ts

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

Hey Designer Geeks!

Here are a few do’s and don’ts when it comes to interior designing that we wish we knew earlier when designing our home. This is all based from our experience:

  • Don’t purchase furniture until you get the chance to move the furniture in the house (we got too excited and underestimated our space). Do measure the room before purchasing furniture to be able to choose furniture that best suits the space.

  • Don’t over pack the area or space. Placing too much stuff in one area makes the room look busy. Have you ever heard the quote “quality over quantity”? Do minimize and keep a clean area, which allows the room to feel more open and inviting.

  • Don’t just throw in a bunch of colors; the more colors that are introduced, the harder it is to understand the theme.  Do stick to a theme. Sticking to a theme makes it easier to flow from one room to the next.

  • Don’t choose dark colors for walls in small spaces, it will just make the room look even smaller. Do pick light colors, such as white, for walls in small spaces; it will make the room look larger than it appears to be.

  • Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box, you might just be the next trend setter. Do create what your mind and heart tells you. You never know unless you try.

I hope our advice would be able to help you in designing your space. We are looking forward to connecting with you all soon, and those that are new here welcome to the Wong Club!
