Less is More

Updated: Jul 17, 2020

Hey Designer Geeks! Welcome to the Wong Club, where everything is made simply. For those interested in redesigning their space, we often encourage that they follow the quote "Less is more." Today, we will let you in on an awe-inspiring, yet simple secret that has worked wonders for us; decluttering can often be the key. When we talk about decluttering, we mean it as the process of minimizing the amount of stuff you have and cleaning all the nooks and crannies. This is a routine we do every three months. A clean space can bring immediate comfort to a room. The first thing our guests comment on when walking through the front door is how tidy and clean the house is. Those comments are so rewarding and easily make the extra work worth it.

When attempting to declutter, always know that you can ask for help. We know how challenging it can be! Janette and I will confess that we both can be collectors, especially when it comes to hygiene and cleaning products (you never can have too many of those!) . Over the years, we have collected almost a dozen travel-sized shampoo and conditioner bottles from our travels, along with a variety of other products. All of these products were kept in our barn door storage, neatly packed away and always ready when we "need it". We had always put off cleaning this area because it's so agonizing to look at and we never know where to start. This storage closet contained not only miscellaneous items such as those mentioned earlier, but also additional items such as cleaning supplies, office supplies, grocery bags and many more. To tackle the difficult barn door area we teamed up with Mariel, a professional organizer. Mariel is the founder of Looka, a hands-on consultation and organization service located in the Southbay area of California. Together, we reorganized the barn door storage area and are truly happy with the outcome. I highly recommend hiring a professional organizer to tackle the most difficult areas of your house. They help minimize and organize your space without any judgement or bias (trust me when I say that). We look forward to maintaining what Mariel has helped us accomplish with our storage area and will be using the tips and advice given to us throughout the rest of the home. Thank you Mariel, founder of Looka, for teaming up with us and thank you to our Designer Geeks for reading. I will link the Looka website below for you all to see her impressive work. I hope you enjoy seeing the transformation of our barn door storage closet. website: https://mrosalestru.wixsite.com/looka
